COVID-19 cases are spiking in Allendale Township on the campus of Grand Valley State University. The Ottawa County Health Department has issued a “Stay in Place” order for GVSU students as there have been more than 600 cases since August 23. However, students are expected in classes as administrator Greg Sanial says it’s believed going to class is safe.

“What we found through contact tracing is a lot of the spread can be attributed to four, five, or six people getting together in a room,” said Sanial.

On GVSU’s online dashboard, 370 cases are listed as “active.”
