This Saturday brings the annual Trolling with the Troops fishing event. State Representative Pauline Wendzel tells WSJM News more than 100 southwest Michigan veterans will be headed out into Lake Michigan aboard dozens of boats to go fishing for the day.
“We’ll be heading out at 5:45 in the morning,” Wendzel said. “That’s when the fish apparently like to bite. And on our way in between noon and 12:30, we’ll be coming up the St. Joseph River between the piers, and people can line the piers, socially distanced of course, and hold signs and wave flags to give some support to our southwest Michigan heroes.”
Wendzel will be out there with the veterans. Trolling with the Troops is hosted by the Southwest Michigan Steelheaders, Trolling with the Troops, and the American Legion out of Stevensville.
