The Potter Park Zoo in Lansing reopens to the public Thursday after being closed for a few months because of the coronavirus. It’s open already for members. Zoo director Cynthia Wagner says new safety protocols are in place.

“We’re letting a set amount of people in every hour, and online tickets are available to help with assigned ticketing,” Wagner told Michigan News Network. “Tickets are available at the gate, but if the zoo is already at maximum capacity, you may have to wait to get in.”

Wagner says zoo capacity is 300, but if people are social distancing well, they may increase that. She says they have some new baby animals including Jaali the rhino and some otter pups.
