Michigan State Police are planning an increased presence in Lansing for Thursday’s demonstration against Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s stay home orders. The MSP public information team put out a social media video Wednesday asking those who attend to wear masks.

“You can rest assured tomorrow we will be wearing a face covering, along with all of our law enforcement partners,” said Lieutenant DuWayne Robinson. “We want to encourage each and every one of you that come down here tomorrow to also wear them as well.”

Michigan State Police Director Joe Casper added in a Wednesday press release the agency “will not allow unlawful, threatening or intimidating behavior.” The statement goes on to say, “Under Michigan law possession of an openly carried firearm coupled with an intention to create fear in another person could subject an individual to criminal prosecution for brandishing a firearm.”
