Many Michigan parents are dealing with a new reality of being directly responsible for their children’s schooling with distance learning guidelines in place amid the coronavirus outbreak. Courtney Runchey from Homeschoolers of Ann Arbor says it’s really important for adults to understand what methods help their children learn best. She says if parents are struggling, help is out there.

“The homeschool community is wonderful as far as trying to help with whatever kind of problems you have,” Runchey tells the Michigan News Network. “If you have a specific question, many of the local groups would be a great resource.”

Runchey also pointed out that parents of classmates of your children are a good resource as they are going through the same thing you are. Some other advice she has is just to relax and take a step back when you or your children need a break, and you shouldn’t feel guilty about that.
