A program at Honor Credit Union has resulted in its employees giving out nearly $18,000 in the 24 communities where they work. Honor Credit Union Brand Specialist Kayla Smith tells WSJM News the Pay it Forward program gives each employee a $50 bonus and asks them to “pay it forward” in their community in any way they choose.
“It’s nice to see that our teams really look forward to it, and there are team members that plan ahead,” Smith said.
Smith says employees did everything from leave large tips for restaurant servers and others to donating food to animal shelters to helping out emergency homeless shelters. The program has been part of the holiday season at Honor Credit Union for several years. Smith says the goal is to make a difference in someone’s day and to do the unexpected.
