Mac Elliott remains the chair of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners after the body held a brief meeting Thursday to start out the new year. Elliott tells us not much has changed with the structure of the county board. Commissioner Ezra Scott has been named the vice chair for a one year term. Elliott says he was the only nominee for the post. There have been no changes to the committee structures, with Elliott saying all of the same members remain on the same committees as last year. After some discussion, the board opted to schedule five night meetings in 2020. Elliott says some were suggesting four night meetings and some were suggesting six, and so he proposed five as a compromise. Last year, the county commission held seven night meetings. The night meetings will be held between May and September in different locations around Berrien County. The exact dates and locations will be decided later.
