The Fourth of July has come and gone, but a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign continues. Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Robert Boyce tells WSJM News police all over Michigan have extra patrols out on the roads looking for impaired drivers.
“A perfect weekend or holiday weekend for us would be not one individual going to jail, and so we’re trying to highly publicize this to get the word out,” Boyce said.
Last year, there were seven traffic fatalities with at least one crash involving alcohol during the Fourth of July holiday period in Michigan. Boyce says the sheriff’s department and Michigan State Police will be on the extra lookout for any kind of impaired driving through July 14.
