Two Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputies have graduated from a corrections officer training academy at Olivet College. The sheriff’s department says Deputies John Wiggs and Cody Lange are now trained in custody and security, defensive tactics, first aid, suicide awareness, fire safety, and communications following the four-week course. The department tells us the program helps to ensure it can maintain a safe and secure jail environment for the staff, inmates, and county residents. Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey says the “training helps our deputies develop and practice the tools necessary to be successful in this high stress environment.”
