The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash of a semi in Newberg Township. Deputies say the driver, 50-year-old Katherine Aris of Ypsilanti, fell asleep behind the wheel just before 6 Sunday morning on M-60 and crashed on the side of the road. The wreck resulted in around 100 gallons of fuel and oil being spilled. Aris was wearing her seatbelt and was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for her injuries. She was headed to Detroit at the time of the accident.
