There’s a new trustee on the Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education. At a meeting on Thursday, district CEO Robert Herrera appointed Denise Whatley-Seats to fill a vacancy left with the recent resignation of Lisa Gulley. With the appointment now made, the board of education has no more vacancies. Herrera made the appointment during the board’s regular session with him on Thursday ahead of Tuesday’s CEO meeting. The board of education is currently in an advisory position to Herrera as he works to turn the district around under the direction of the state.
