Michigan Senate Honors Corporal Cole Wixom Of Bloomingdale

The life of Army Corporal Cole Wixom of Bloomingdale is being honored by the Michigan Senate. The 24-year-old was killed in a training exercise in New Mexico on January 22, and Governor Whitmer ordered flags lowered to half-staff the day of his funeral on February 2. The Senate held a moment of silence for Corporal Wixom on Thursday at the request of Senator Aric Nesbitt.

“Corporal Wixom served in the U.S. Army and completed a tour of Afghanistan. He was back home, where his parents thought he was safe. He was sadly lost in a military accident in New Mexico just a few short weeks ago” said Nesbitt on the Senate floor.

Wixom graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 2013 and joined the U.S. Army in 2016.
