Berrien RESA is marking School Board Recognition Month, when the members of local school boards across the county are celebrated for the extra work they do for their communities. RESA tells us its school board members bear responsibility for an annual budget of $49 million, more than 25,000 students, 300 employees, and a variety of classrooms and buildings located throughout Berrien County. RESA says those volunteers are regular citizens whose decisions affect children and build our communities. Berrien RESA Superintendent Kevin Ivers says showing appreciation for the work of school boards should be a year-round process. He adds, too often, citizens neglect to recognize “the dedication and hard work of these men and women.” This January, Berrien RESA is asking all members of the community to take a moment and thank a school board member.
