The South Haven Planning Commission will spend the next few months looking into a ban on recreational marijuana businesses following a vote by the City Council on Monday directing them to do so. City Manager Brian Dissette spoke to WSJM News about how much time the Planning Commission will have to work on it.

“Ultimately, 12 months is allowed within the ordinance,” Dissette said. “We did have one council member encouraging the planning commission to move a bit faster.”

The city council will take the issue up again in two weeks at their second December meeting. During the public comment period Monday night, there were people speaking up both for and against allowing marijuana businesses in the city.
