Another Attempt Made To Repeal Anti-Ticket Scalping Law

An effort is underway again to try to repeal the state’s rarely-enforced ban on ticket scalping. The House sent a bill to the Senate last week to abolish the law, sponsored by state Representative Tim Kelly.

“This is the third term in a row, and this is the most accommodating bill I think that we’ve arrived at as yet to appease some of those who have been opposed all along,” said the Saginaw Township Republican.

He says Michigan is one of a few states still prohibiting the practice. Currently, selling tickets to games, concerts and other entertainment events above face value, is a misdemeanor which can lead to a maximum 90 days in jail or a $500 fine.
