A Watervliet resident has made a $30,000 donation to the Lakeland Hospital Watervliet Parcourse. That’s an outdoor walking and running track that’s open to the community. Lakeland tells us Jim Camfferman donated the funds in honor of his late wife, Diane Camfferman, who passed away in July of 2016. The two met at the hospital in 1965 when Jim was working as an orderly. Diane worked at Lakeland Hospital Watervliet for 43 years in both the laboratory and as president of the Community Hospital Foundation Auxiliary. The $30,000 donation from Camfferman to the Parcourse will help to pay for renovations. Right now, the 1.1 mile track has a gravel base used for recreation and physical rehab. The newly-redesigned course will feature two quarter-mile asphalt loops that can accommodate people with disabilities. There are also plans to add new exercise equipment. So far, a total of more than $251,000 has been raised in support of the $365,000 project.
