Bicyclist Hurt In Van Buren County

An 88-year-old man is recovering after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Van Buren County over the weekend. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department tells us it happened shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday in the 68,000 block of County Road 384 in Geneva Township. Responding deputies learned the victim, a Geneva Township man, was riding his recumbent tricycle eastbound when he was struck by a vehicle that was also eastbound. The victim suffered head and arm injuries and was taken to Bronson Hospital in South Haven. The driver of the vehicle, an 82-year-old man from Geneva Township, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to the Van Buren County Jail. The case is being referred to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office.
