What caused a van driver to go into the other lane and slam head-on into a horse and buggy in Bloomingdale Township is something Van Buren County Sheriff’s investigators are trying to figure out. It happened late Tuesday morning on 46th Street near County Road 388. The horse was killed instantly, and the 59-year-old man driving the buggy is hospitalized at Bronson in Kalamazoo in serious condition. The 67-year-old man behind the wheel of the van was not hurt. Deputies add they don’t believe either alcohol or drugs were factors.
