No support for the Republican gubernatorial nominee is coming from the current Republican governor of Michigan. Rick Snyder was asked if he was going to endorse Attorney General Bill Schuette at an event in Grand Rapids this week, and would only say he’s focused on his job as governor.

“I’ve always not viewed myself as a traditional politician,” Snyder told reporters. “There are a lot of things I want to get done before I’m finished with office. So I want to stay focused in on getting more and better results for our citizens.”

When asked which candidate would be better at continuing the successes of his administration, Snyder repeated that he wasn’t going to get involved in the race.

“As I’ve said, I’m staying out of politics. I’m governing.”

Snyder had backed Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley in the Republican primary. Calley was denied the opportunity to take the stage and issue his own endorsement of Schuette at the Republican unity rally after the primary by the campaign of the nominee. The Michigan Democratic Party says the Republican Governor’s Association has pulled $1.5 million in funding from the state, as pundits are predicting Democrat Gretchen Whitmer will likely be the winner in November.
