State Representative Beth Griffin of Mattawan is hailing word that Van Buren County has now hired a veterans services officer. She’s been behind legislation to create grant programs for counties to have full-time staff that work to connect veterans with services that can help them.
“It’s great to know that Van Buren County is serving veterans once again in a full-time capacity,” Griffin said.
Griffin tells WSJM News the veterans services office is at the Van Buren County Administrative building in Paw Paw on the third floor. Speaking of veterans services, Griffin says a Seniors and Veterans Expo she hosted on Monday attracted more than 600 people. The event is held each year for state lawmakers to connect seniors and veterans with state services.
