Visitors to some of Berrien County’s most popular parks will soon be able to use credit cards to gain entrance. Berrien County Parks Director Brian Bailey tells WSJM News Wi-Fi technology will be installed at the entrances to make the transactions possible.

“We currently have been accepting credit cards at Madeline Bertrand and Love Creek County Parks, and now we’re expanding that service and it’s going to include Silver Beach County Park as well,” Bailey said.

Bailey tells us the addition of credit card readers at park entrances is all about convenience for users.

“It’s a trend of the times, that folks are certainly carrying less cash than they used to,” Bailey said.

Bailey expects the new features to be available by mid-May. He tells us he thinks the credit card option for Silver Beach County Park, in particular, will speed up entrance during the summer when you can often find lines of vehicles waiting. Bailey says the county is also adding a new lane at the Silver Beach entrance to speed things up when there is a wait.
