U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow paid a visit to southwest Michigan on Friday, stopping by the Berrien County Health Department to talk with veterans. She tells WSJM News she wanted to hear what local veterans had to say about VA services.

“I particularly work on veterans’ healthcare and have worked to expand the number of outpatient clinics we have and we’ve expanded monies available for mental health services in the budget we just passed, and so I want to make sure that actually gets to veterans in the community,” Stabenow said. “We were talking about that.”

Stabenow told us veterans are concerned about having to deal with additional bureaucracy, challenges with completing paperwork, and services to those with hearing disabilities. She then headed down to Berrien Springs for a small business tour.
