AAA is reminding drivers to be extra wary of drowsiness following the time change this past weekend. Spokesperson Gary Bubar tells us the time change is enough to increase crashes caused by people being sleepy.

“With the change to Daylight Saving Time, even though it’s only an hour, that has the equivalent of changing a time zone,” Bubar said.

Bubar says the best way to deal with the time change is to not let it affect your sleep schedule. Get up and go to bed at the same time you normally would for the whole week. Drowsiness is a factor in nearly 10% of vehicle crashes, and three in ten drivers will admit to having trouble keeping their eyes open behind the wheel.
