Millions of dollars in grant money coming to Michigan will be used to help help the state develop talent and companies to fill thousand of jobs. The Skilled Trades Training Fund ensures residents have continued access to training for in-demand skills and that employers continue creating opportunities for skilled workers. Talent Investment Agency Director Wanda Stokes spoke with Michigan News Network about the funding.

“Some of the training criteria are that it should be three months or less of training,” Stokes said. “This training has to lead to an industry-recognized credential in a transferable skill, and it’s got to lead to continued or permanent full-time employment.”

Stokes says certain criteria must be met to be eligible for a grant. She hopes the money will help residents have continued access to training for in-demand skills.
