Things remain up when it comes to the west Michigan economy. That’s according to Dr. Brian Long, Director of Supply Management Research at Grand Valley State University. He spoke with Michigan News Network about his latest industrial analysis.
“This October, we again saw a light decline from the previous month, but the numbers remain very positive, which indicates a lot of the problems that we see int he world economy, as well as the mood of our local economy, seem to be taken in stride.”
In October, new orders for business remained positive, but declined from September. The production index also posted a modest gain. The local index of employment remained double-digit positive, while the official unemployment rate nationally has fallen to 4.1%.
