County Road Association Releases Fall Color Tour Recommendations

The fall is just about here, and the County Road Association of Michigan is telling everyone about the best places and times to see all of the vivid colors of the season. Spokesperson Christina Strong tells WSJM News, soon enough, the weather will cool down and the show will begin. The road association expects the color show to start October 1 in the Upper Peninsula.

“There is going to be tons of local roads that are going to be changing colors,” Strong said. “Very robust trees and leaves to look at and it will just be beautiful scenery to drive down during the fall.”

Southwest Michigan’s fall color show is expected to be between October 14 through the 21st. The County Road Association of Michigan predicts the best areas will be along Blue Star Highway, M-63, and Red Arrow Highway. Below is the full list of the association’s recommendations for southwest Michigan color viewing.

The County Road Association says the following routes will offer the best fall colors:

Blue Star Memorial Highway along Lake Michigan from Van Buren to M-63

M-63 south to St. Joseph

Red Arrow Highway from Stevensville to Lakeshore Road in New Buffalo

Red Arrow Highway to Union Pier then back to Warren Woods Road

Red Highway to Madron Lake Road in city of Buchanan
