A new poll says 64% of Michiganders want an investigation into the condition of Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline under the Straits of Mackinac. That’s after it was discovered sections of pipeline’s protective coating was weakened or missing. Ed Sarpolus, with Target Insyghts.

“The talk all this last year was ‘Shut them down, remove them,’ but the bottom line is 64% of voters said, ‘Quickly inspect them, and if you have to shut them down and quickly repair them, but don’t take them out,’” Sarpolus said.

Sarpolus tells Michigan’s Big Show people were concerned about how oil would be transported to northern Michigan if the line were to be removed. 13% of respondents want the line taken out. 12% say only monitoring is needed.
