Michigan’s Good Samaritan law protecting people 21 and younger from being prosecuted if they report an overdose now applies to everyone, regardless of age. Representative Al Pscholka of Stevensville sponsored both the original law and the expansion, and tells WSJM News it’s working.

“We know in Brigdman it saved a life on New Year’s Day. I’ve heard at Michigan state University over the weekend, this law saved a life and one student said they saw on Facebook they could get immunity if a call was made, and a life was saved.”

The law came about after the prescription drug overdose death of 16-year-old Mason Mizwicki of Watervliet at a New Year’s Eve party. His mother, Lori Mizwicki, and aunt Brandi Huyser joined Pscholka in Governor Snyder’s office on Tuesday for the bill signing ceremony.
