Congressman Fred Upton is hoping to see the House take action this month to help cities struggling with lead contamination in their water. Last week, Upton visited Flint, which he says is still trying to make sure its residents have safe drinking water

“I went out with the regional EPA administrator and the head of the DEQ here in Michigan and actually tested the water at one of the houses in the neighborhood, and the alarming thing was that the test didn’t come back very well,” Upton said.

Upton tells WSJM News there are communities across the country dealing with possible lead contamination. He thinks Congress will include some money to help those cities in the appropriations bills it’s working to approve by the end of the month.
