The big hill on Front Street in Buchanan will be transformed into a water slide this weekend for the community’s first ever Summer Thrill on the Hill event. Downtown Development Authority Director Debra Patzer says the usual winter Thrill on the Hill is so popular, she wanted to try something similar in the summer.
“We brought in some beach sand, and we’re going to have some volleyball tournaments, and we’re going to have beach-type games for the little kids,” Patzer told WSJM. “The fire department will be on hand. I think they’re going to mist things down periodically. And we have a DJ for the event.”
They’ve rigged up a water slide on the hill, and you can get a wristband for a full day of slides for $5. Summer Thrill on the Hill will take place Friday from noon to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. They’ll also have a luau party for the grown-ups Friday at 10 p.m. Patzer reminds everyone to bring their own tubes or floating devices
