Travel Michigan will be promoting the West Michigan Pike in upcoming materials now that the pike has been named a Pure Michigan Byway. Pure Michigan Byways are routes the travel campaign urges visitors to take. The used to be called Michigan Heritage Routes. Travel Michigan’s Dave Lorenz says they’re not the fastest way to see the state, but they’re the most interesting, enabling tourists to see the most.

“Finding little communities along the way, finding little retro motels and fun little restaurants and small little communities along the way, and experience life in Michigan just a little bit different, just a little bit slower,k,” Lorenz told WSJM.

The West Michigan Pike is made up of parts of roads throughout western part of the state. They include I-94, US-12, Red Arrow Highway, and Blue Star Highway, among many others. Following the pike enables a tourist to see all of the best things the region has to offer. The pike was established in the early 1900s, and now, it’s been revived to be a Pure Michigan Byway.
