Michigan State Police Troopers To Help Provide Security To Republican Convention

On hand helping to provide security for the Republican National Convention next week will be about 100 Michigan State Police troopers. They’re starting to trickle into Cleveland as part of an interstate agreement. Michigan State Police Inspector Jim Shaw.

“Along with that comes reimbursement,” Shaw said. “So, Michigan State Police will be reimbursed for costs associated with this deployment.”

Shaw told Michael Patrick Shiels the agreement to share police resources is usually only used for responding to natural disasters. However, huge crowds, including protestors, are expected for the GOP convention. A dozen states are sending police to help provide for the event which gets underway on Monday.
