The Blossomtime Festival Youth Parade for youngsters from preschool through middle school is happening tomorrow along Lake Boulevard downtown St. Joseph.

Watch as the Grand Marshalls, 2023 Bud Princess Avry Schmidke and Prince Cameron Johns lead the way, along with many Queens and Kings.

Blessing of the Blossoms

On Sunday at 2 p.m., the festival is also hosting the Blessing of the Blossoms, a non-denominational service at the MSU Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center, 1737 Hillandale Road, Benton Harbor.

The Blessing of the Blossoms was first held by the Rev. W. J. Cady in 1906 and is credited as the beginning of the Blossomtime Festival. The Blessing of the Blossoms is a non-denominational service that is the foundation and the core of the Blossomtime Festival itself.

The Blessing of the Blossoms will include Miss and Mr. Blossomtime and their Courts, Miss Teen Blossomtime, Miss Junior Teen Blossomtime, the Bud Prince & Princess, and 2023 Community Queens, as well as clergy from participating communities.

Softball game

Following the Blessing of the Blossoms, Blossomtime Royalty will partake in the first annual softball game, Queens/Kings vs the Blossomtime Community Chairmen and Central Queens at the Kohn Sports Complex, 6161 Cleveland Avenue, Stevensville.

This event is open to the public and free of charge. For further information, please contact the Blossomtime Office by calling 269-982-8016 or emailing office@blossomtimefestival.org.
