Set for May 20 is the 19th annual Lory’s Place Run, Walk, Rock 5K. Lory’s Place is a grieving center in St. Joseph, started in 2004 by the family of Dr. Lory Schults after she was killed in a car crash. Lory’s Place Director of Bereavement Stephanie Kohler-Pagan tells us the Run, Walk, and Rock is its biggest fundraiser each year. Around 700 people have already signed up for this year.

“Runners and walkers start together, and they really can travel all along the brick streets of Ridgeway, along the marina, you get to see the beautiful beachfront along the shoreline, and then it brings you right back here to Lory’s Place,” Kohler-Pagan said. “So, people will start and finish in the same spot.”

Pagan says those who take part can either run or walk, or they can sit in a custom rocking chair at the start and finish line to cheer people on. It’s $35 to register before May 18 and $40 after that. You can register online.
