Brandywine falls to Traverse City St. Francis in state basketball semifinal

The historic postseason run for the Brandywine High School boys basketball team has come to an end.

The Bobcats were defeated by Traverse City St. Francis 46-36 in the Division 3 state basketball semifinal Thursday afternoon at The Breslin Center in East Lansing. Brandywine finishes the season 25-3 after winning its first regional title in school history.

The team started strong, opening with a 9-4 lead in the first quarter and taking an 11-9 lead into the second. Ultimately, costly turnovers and being outrebounded 36-24 allowed the Gladiators to pull away late.

Jaremiah Palmer led the Bobcats with 8 points, while Jamier Palmer had 6 points and 9 rebounds. Wyatt Nausadis led the Gladiators with 21 points and seven rebounds, while John Hagelstein had nine points and 15 rebounds.

Traverse City goes on to face Flint Beecher in the finals on Saturday.
