11:30 p.m. UPDATE: MSU Police and Public Safety Interim Deputy Chief Chris Rozman said there are a total of five victims transported to Sparrow hospital, some with life threatening injuries.

All campus activities at MSU in the next 48 hours are canceled.

“Community members on and off campus should remain sheltered in place,” Rozman said. “Please do not come to campus. I can’t say that enough. For parents, we understand. I can only imagine the emotion that’s involved right now. It’s going to help us, and it’s going to help our response and it’s going to help us identify the shooter, the less people that are on campus at this point. …

“Information is very preliminary at this point, and we are working very hard to gather that information to accurately get it out to our community, to students, to parents and to everybody who needs that information. Please know that the safety and security of this campus and our students is our absolute priority.”

UPDATE: Victims are currently being transported to Sparrow Hospital. Brody Hall, Snyder/Phillips Hall, Mason Hall, Abbot Hall, Landon Hall, the MSU Union, and Berkey Hall have all been cleared/secured.

Police said the shooter is a short male with a mask, possibly black.
