South Haven’s short-term rentals remain a hot-button issue. Assistant City Manager Griffin Graham gave the city council an update last night on the numbers of them for this year.

“There are 497 non-exempt business short-term rentals allowed in 2023. Presently, there are 449 that are registered. That leaves 48 non-exempt business designations available for 2023.”

Public comment remained split between full-time residents who want fewer short-term rentals and people that own the homes being rented out. Graham says they will accept applications until September 1, 2023 or until the limit of 497 short-term rentals has been reached.
