A Niles man is dead after a single vehicle crash in Cass County’s Milton Township on Wednesday. Michigan State Police say it happened around 7:45 p.m. on Bertrand Street near Batchlor Drive. The preliminary investigation shows the driver of a Toyota SUV was eastbound on Bertrand Street when he lost control, veered off the road, and crashed sideways into a tree. When first responders arrived, they found the 65-year-old driver dead at the scene. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
