The National Weather Service says the blizzard is progressing about as predicted. Meteorologist Patrick Murphy tells us Friday got off to a rough start.

“Pretty much so, especially in the lake effect areas, where we’re getting totals in excess of nine inches and multi-car pileups on I-94 this morning with blizzard conditions and visibility zero to a quarter mile in heavy snow and blowing snow.”

Murphy advises people it can be dangerous to be outside with the wind chills taking temperatures down to 20 below zero. In Warsaw, Indiana on Friday, they recorded a wind chill temperature of 41 below zero. Murphy says we should be out of the woods by Monday.

“By Monday, certainly, and into the middle of next week we’ll see temperatures back into the 30s.”

Murphy says the snow and wind will continue into Saturday, although the wind chill temperatures will be to about ten below zero by then. The National Weather Service predicts the snow will lessen throughout the day Saturday.
