The Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor will hold their second annual Unity Day next Friday at FC Reed Middle School in Bridgman. The club’s Sherri Ulleg tells WSJM News Unity Day will allow members from each club location throughout Southwest Michigan to mingle.

“We just started programming in Bridgman this summer, and so in order to celebrate that new location and they have a great site there at FC Reed Middle School. We’re going to be bringing kids from all of our locations to that school for an event we call Unity Day.”

Ulleg says the club has chapters in Benton Harbor, Bridgman, South Haven, St. Joseph, and Three Oaks. They’ll all come together for the first time for some running, jump rope, and basketball competitions. The Unity Day games will also feature chalk art design, painting, and a talent show. Ulleg says the day will give the youths a chance to show off their own strengths. The event next Friday will run from 1 to 5 p.m. Around 400 young people are expected to take part.
