Primaries For Several Southwest Michigan State House Seats Next Week

Voters will head to the polls next Tuesday to cast their ballots in primaries and to decide on proposals. Starting with the primaries for Michigan House in southwest Michigan, there are now several districts to consider.

The 38th District covers the Lake Michigan coast all the way from New Buffalo to Saugatuck. There are two Democrats running, Annie Brown and Joey Andrews. There are three Republicans. They are George Lucas, Troy Rolling, and Kevin Whiteford.

The 39th state House District covers eastern parts of Berrien County on into Van Buren County. Jared Plonowski is the lone Democrat, while the Republicans are Pauline Wendzel and Matt Nilson.

The 37th District covers part of Berrien County and much of Cass County. The Democrat is Naomi Ludman, while the Republicans are Brad Paquette and JD Haughey.

There’s also the 36th District, covering Cass and St. Joseph counties. The Democrat is Roger Williams. The four Republicans are Steve Carra, Jack Coleman, Scott McGraw, and Jerry Solis.

The primary is August 2, and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can follow election results from your county at ElectionReporting.com.
