Spectrum Health Lakeland’s Veggie Van will be rolling into Berrien Springs this coming week. Spectrum says the mobile farmer’s market will offer free, locally grown, healthy fruits and vegetables, and nutrition information from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at the University Medical Center on US-31 in Berrien Springs. The Veggie Van will hand out the free vegetables drive through style, and those who stop by are asked to stay in their vehicles while someone brings their goods over to them. A total of 100 bags will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The purpose of the Veggie Van is to ensure that fruits and vegetables are available to people who otherwise have limited access. It’s possible thanks to support from Spectrum Health and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids in partnership with Spectrum Health Lakeland and the YMCA of Greater Michiana.
