Whirlpool CEO Marc Bitzer is the new the Worldwide Board of Trustees Chair for United Way Worldwide. Bitzer was elected to the United Way board in June of 2018 and now rises to lead it. He’s been the CEO of Whirlpool since 2017 and has also served the company as president of Whirlpool North America and president of U.S. operations. The United Way says it’s been a “key asset” since coming to its board. United Way of Southwest Michigan President Anna Murphey says Bitzer’s “insight and commitment to the work of United Way make him a tremendous asset to Worldwide, and he will undoubtedly make crucial contributions as Worldwide navigates change and reinvents itself.” Bitzer says he has seen how the United Way benefits people in communities all around the world, and he’s honored to be its board chair.
