Set for this Saturday is the first annual Benefit Car Show at Maiden Lane Park in St. Joseph Township. The car show is being held to honor police and firefighters and will feature a wide variety of cars, both old and new, antique tractors and motorcycles, a swap meet and craft show, a pancake breakfast, food vendors, live music, and police and fire vehicles on display. Car show Chair Steve Wright tells WSJM News he wanted to do something for local police.

“What we’re trying to do, and we want to do this every year, is to generate funds for these folks so they can buy equipment and for training, whatever their needs are,” Wright said. “These guys, they don’t get the recognition that they deserve.”

Wright says there is going to be a lot to see. It will be free to get in, and it’s $5 to enter a car. Wright says those who attend are asked to make a donation, and all money raised will be split between the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department and the Berrien County Firefighters Association. The car show will run Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
