It’s official. Guy Miller has been named Berrien County Health Officer. The county commission approved the appointment Thursday. Miller has been the acting health officer since November, stepping into the role of running the Berrien County Health Department when former Health Officer Nicki Britten left. Miller is an epidemiologist who has worked for the Berrien County Health Department for more than six years. He grew up in St. Joseph and returned to work at the Berrien County Health Department after completing his master’s degree in public health at Walden University in Minneapolis. Berrien County Administrator Brian Dissette thanked the board of commissioners for naming Miller to the permanent role on Thursday and said the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has already indicated it will approve the hire. Miller will be paid $107,000 a year for the new role.
