A student enrolled in First Tee of Benton Harbor has been selected for the national First Tee College Scholarship Program’s Class of 2022. First Tee of Benton Harbor Development Director Josh Schaffer tells WSJM News Connor Shooks just graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School and is soon headed off to Loyola University Chicago.

“He is an outstanding, what I would view as an absolute model participant with our chapter,” Schaffer said. “He joined us over six years ago, and really since he has been a part of things, he has gone above and beyond and really just dove into our program and volunteered with us over the years. He regularly stays after class to help with the younger kids.”

Schaffer says Shooks is one of just 25 students nationwide to be selected for a First Tee scholarship. That’s out of around 150 chapters worldwide. Schaffer says it’s great to see such a deserving local youth get the recognition he deserves. Shooks plans to study sports management.
