Harbor Shores has announced its investing more than $200,000 in trail improvements around the Benton Harbor development. It’s going to upgrade the walking trail areas along Jean Klock Road and construct new signage welcoming walkers to the trails, including those adjacent to holes 10 through 18. The improvements will include new asphalt along Jean Klock Road, replace tree roots and chipped asphalt at the viewing stations on holes 9 and 17 with new drainage areas, and put up signs that say the public is welcome on the seven mile loop at Harbor Shores. Harbor Shores Managing Director Jeff Noel says the funding was part of support from Whirlpool Corporation for added bike trails along M-63 and the company’s plans for a mountain bike system that’s now under construction. He adds the work is in addition to the $200,000 Harbor Shores already spends each year on maintenance at Jean Klock Park and the trail system.
