Berrien RESA’s Heartwork 2022 will be this Wednesday at the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College. RESA Superintendent Eric Hoppstock tells WSJM News Heartwork is part of the Learn by Heart campaign, which seeks to highlight the good work of educators throughout Berrien County.

“This has really been a concerted effort to put education in a positive light and to put education to our community, to the Berrien County community, and say here are all the great things that are happening,” Hoppstock said.

Hoppstock says he’s found the community receptive as RESA salutes teachers and other school personnel.

“Communities, families are saying, ‘Hey, I’ve seen on of those social media posts,’ and when we ask the follow up question, ‘Do they help you see schools and educators in a more positive light,’ it’s overwhelmingly yes.”

Heartwork will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mendel Center. It will start with food trucks, raffles, giveaways, and entertainment. At 7, motivational speaker and educator Chase Mielke will take to the mainstage. Hoppstock says more than 900 school employees have so far signed up to attend.
