A child abuse registry will be created in Michigan now that Governor Whitmer has signed Wyatt’s Law. The law will create an electronic case management system with a record of confirmed cases of child abuse or neglect available to the public. It is named after nine-year-old Wyatt, who was shaken badly by the girlfriend of his father at one-year-old and underwent several brain and eye surgeries. His mother, Erica Hammel, worked for years to get the law passed as her son’s abuser is already out of prison.
