There’s excitement up north as the historic sites of Mackinac State Historic Parks are opening for the 2022 season beginning Tuesday through Friday. Dominick Miller, Chief of Marketing for Mackinac State Historic Parks, told Michigan News Network they’re excited about a new season.

“We’re able to get our sites open,” Miller said. Luckily for us, we’re an open air, outdoor museum, which was incredibly helpful for us in dealing with the pandemic for the last couple of years. But we had to put various procedures in place. We added hand sanitizing stations and things like that, which we’re happy to keep up.”

They also shut down more hands-on sorts of activities. Miller says as we continue to get back to pre-pandemic life, they look forward to offering the variety of experiences guests have come to expect along with debuting some new programs and exhibits.
